About this deal

All models support: SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2, FMA3, Speed Shift Technology (SST), Intel 64, XD bit (an NX bit implementation), Intel VT-x, Intel VT-d, Hyper-threading, Turbo Boost, AES-NI, IPU6 (except SRLFR) , TB4, Smart Cache, Thread Director, DL Boost, and GNA 3.0. Color Filters, including inverted, grayscale, red-green, and blue-yellow, can be toggled with Windows + Ctrl + C. Contrast themes are toggled with Alt + Left Shift + Print Screen. Standard Dark Mode and custom colors are also available under Personalization. Interestingly, Adobe Photoshop is more sensitive to memory bandwidth and this benefits DDR5 memory as they produced the best results. That said, DDR4-3600 and 3200 CL16 were not a great deal slower than most of the DDR5 kits, but if you're after maximum performance in this application, the faster the DDR5 memory the better. Gaming Benchmarks Integrated graphics save power, since there's no extra graphics chip on your laptop's or desktop's motherboard drawing juice. Intel's integrated graphics solutions work well for mainstream productivity and display (including multidisplay) tasks. Both Iris Plus and Iris Xe can rival the capabilities of a low-end discrete GPU like Nvidia's GeForce MX series.

All models support up to DDR5-4800 or DDR4-3200 memory, and 16 lanes of PCI Express 5.0 + 4 lanes of PCIe 4.0. Next up is 7-Zip compression. This workload loves the Alder Lake design and the architectural benefits it brings, including powerful P-cores. The 12700H dominates the 11800H with a 39 percent performance uplift, and we see similar margins to AMD processors like the Ryzen 7 5800H. All models support up to DDR5-4800, LPDDR5-5200, DDR4-3200, or LPDDR4X-4266 memory, and 20 lanes of PCI Express 4.0/3.0. Raptor Cove + Gracemont microarchitecture (13th/14th generation) [ edit ] " Raptor Lake-S" (Intel 7) [ edit ]Then with DDR5 we see that despite the much higher operating frequency, latency doesn't improve over what we see with DDR4 and this is because the Alder Lake memory controller can't run at a 1:1 ratio with the DRAM, forcing us to use gear 2 mode for all DDR5 testing. Even at 6200, we're still looking at a latency of 63ns, which is higher than even DDR4-3200 CL16 memory. So for now DDR5 will thrive in applications and games that require big memory bandwidth and aren't as sensitive to latency. That's a complete look at Alder Lake performance using a wide range of DDR4 and DDR5 memory kits with the Core i9-12900K. Now the question is, what should you buy? The best way to answer that question is to look at pricing first... Then compared to the Apple M1 Pro, the 12700H is similar in its performance per watt for multi-thread workloads. Where Intel benefits though is the ability to scale much higher than the M1 Pro, so again in those larger gaming laptops the multi-thread performance far outstrips what Apple can provide and this is seen in some of the 75W benchmarks shown previously. It’s no surprise that Intel’s latest Core i7 processor is faster than its 11th Generation predecessor, but the degree to which performance has increased is rather impressive. The boost in overall core count (thanks to the inclusion of the new E-Cores) made a performance jump a near guarantee, just like we saw with 10th Gen "Comet Lake" and 8th Gen "Coffee Lake." But Intel's Core i7-12700K has also made notable improvements to single-threaded performance on a scale not seen over the last few generations. Intel Turbo Boost Technology Frequency Table – 5th Generation Intel Core i7 Desktop Processors". Intel. March 18, 2016 . Retrieved April 21, 2016.

This is achieved without consuming more single-thread power than other x86 processors, though the Arm-based M1 Pro is significantly more efficient. Next up is PC gaming performance, however running a direct comparison is complicated because this new generation of Alder Lake laptops uses different GPUs – the new Ti models from Nvidia. So this section won't be very long or comprehensive as it's hard to separate the gains from the CPU versus gains from the GPU. Raptor Cove + Gracemont microarchitecture (13th generation) [ edit ] "Raptor Lake-HX" (Intel 7) [ edit ]Cores – The minimum requirement for gaming enthusiasts who want to run the latest games on the highest settings.

For testing the i7-12700H we've run two power configurations: a long-term PL1 power limit of 45W, Intel's default spec for these chips, as well as 75W, which is a common boosted power level seen across many laptop vendors. However at 75W, the 12700H is able to pull ahead of the field. While just 3% faster than the 5800H at 45W, it's now a very solid 22% faster, owing to Alder Lake's great scalability up to higher power levels. So if you do get a laptop with the cooling power to handle higher long term power, the 12700H is the way to go. Performance hybrid architecture, combining Performance-cores (P-cores) and Efficient-cores (E-Cores) to deliver balanced single-thread and multi-threaded real-world performance.

The Core i7-12700K features eight P-cores and four E-cores. HyperThreading is enabled on the P-cores, which works out to the 12-core/20-thread count. Built on the Intel 7 (10 nm Enhanced SuperFin) silicon fabrication node, which offers comparable transistor-density and power characteristics to 7 nm-class nodes by TSMC, the "Alder Lake-S" silicon features up to 8 "Golden Cove" P-cores and up to 8 "Gracemont" E-cores, of which all 8 P-cores and 4 out of 8 E-cores are enabled on the i7-12700K.

Universal cable connectivity for a simple, reliable connection that provides incredible performance. Then from 2400 to 2933 we see a further 12% increase and at that point DDR4 is maxed out with 3200, 3600, and even 4000 only offering a few extra frames. The idea of this test is not to take a few premium kits and then manually adjust timings and frequencies, which is what we've done in the past. Instead we want to test memory kits you can actually buy and see how those perform and compare. We reached out to Corsair and submitted a long shopping list of kits that we wanted to test and they were gracious enough to help us out. There’s also the limited edition 14x version that comes with 32GB of RAM and an ultra durable frame literally specced to perform in outer space. Neat!
