About this deal

Some shrubs may show signs of reverted growth or ‘sporting’. This is where random shoots of different leaves associated with the plant’s parentage begin to appear. Most commonly this is where plants with variegated leaves sprout pure green growths instead of variegated ones. Keep your potato plants well watered, but don’t overwater them. Indoors they won’t need to be watered as much as outdoors in summer. Make sure that your pots have good drainage, potatoes won’t grow in wet soil. Another compact option, this cultivar is especially cold-hardy and also has a vertical-branching form.

Conifers can be planted throughout the year, but it is best to plant them in the late autumn or winter, as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Most conifers are frost proof to an extent and hardy, so they will be able to establish well throughout cooler weather. All you have to do is ensure the potato plants have the right conditions to grow and produce crops. Dimensions: 9cm diameter top, 6.3cm diameter base and 8.7cm depth. Capacity: 0.37 litres. Recommended use: For pot bedding and young plants. Though you can certainly go with the widely-available species tree, there are four varieties that I feel are especially well-suited for container growing in the UK. Potato Red Due of York– this first early variety has a red skin and yellow flesh. They are ready to harvest in 10-12 weeks. These are my favourite potatoes for chunky chips.Planting usually begins in March for the first early varieties. Second earlies and main crop potatoes should be planted from mid-March. I recommend that you dilute the fertiliser to 60-70% of the instructed strength, apply it well away from the crown and water the plant both before and after the application.

They should be planted in full sun or partial shade, and are tolerant of most soil types, but will benefit from having compost or manure tilled into the soil prior to planting. Olive trees are slow-growing and relatively small, and, with relatively few demands on the soil, are among the most suitable trees for growing in containers. The most common and most devastating disease that affects potatoes is late blight. It is also called potato blight or tomato blight, as those two plants are the main hots for the disease. So, if you want to grow potatoes in containers successfully, you need to know about blight.
