About this deal

Thinking that she never loved Mike in the same way her marriage falls apart and she divorces Mike and is back in touch with the also now divorced Patrick.

To be honest, I found the array of characters to be too much distraction as they didn’t seem to add much to the story.

She only had a few days with Patrick before he walked out the door, never to be seen again, yet Celine can’t stop thinking about him. As a single 31-year-old woman, who is one of three still without a partner in her friendship group, does the prospect of such an arrangement appeal? The problem with so many romance books is that they try to skate on the popularity of the trope, rather than the strength of the characters. but has she made a big mistake and is what she has always wanted been right that her nose all the time or is Patrick really her destiny? Two single friends, most likely surrounded by an ocean of couples taking the concept of PDA to new extremes, look at each other and decide, yeah, OK, why not?

Usually when I read, I tend to prefer one character than the other, but honestly, this book had moments that I didn't know who was the right person for Celine.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. The main characters touched my heart and I shed quite a few tears throughout this book, frustrated at times that they needed a nudge to sort out their lives and communicate with each other! The story is set in the present day with flashbacks to their childhood but throughout the whole story there is an underlying mystery as to what caused them to lose touch for so long and become so distant. She learns that he is married but although he wants to be with her he cannot abandon his wife in Hong Kong.

This is the same feeling I had when I first read Emily Giffin and made the startling discovery that chick lit didn't have to be vapid--that it could be engaging, intelligent, and introspective. I read Emily Houghton’s debut, Before I Saw You, and loved it so I couldn’t wait to give this one a read. Maybe that was what happened when you had your heart broken… it grew back harder and more protected than before. it was also clean, so the only thing that really annoyed me was all of the swearing towards the end. We follow them both as they make new friends, paint, take photographs, work, flirt and keep bumping into each other.Es medio que la misma historia de siempre, dos líneas temporales, dos mejores amigos que no sabemos como ni porque se distanciaron y no se vieron por dos décadas. As an accomplished artist he definitely has an eye for the female form, but he has been unwise and undependable in his relationships for most of his life.
