About this deal

It is absolutely FULL of twists and turns, with stunning writing and super intriguing characters and a centuries-long fight against prejudice and discrimination. Overall, I appreciated the slower, more political plot, but there were parts of the book that went on too long and felt dragged out, but truthfully this could be said for about 95% of YA fantasy debuts. I love a story of that type as much as anyone else, but DESCENDANT simply isn't that and neither do I want to pretend it is.

I love reading a unique plot, and brewing up twists and turns in my own, but what I love most i …more I'd have to say the interaction of character and plot! Whilst this all sounds very unusual, Hesina has every assurance that this is the right path to take. Descendant of the Crane takes place in a fictional kingdom inspired by China where the people were once ruled by greedy monarchs that used soothsayers to secure their rule. I see some reviews fussing a bit about character development, but I really liked what she did with these characters. Mi primera experiencia con esta autora y puedo asegurar que es un maravilloso debut personal con la forma en la que se expresa y maneja el ambiente y transición de los giros argumentales de la historia. They were people with almost magical powers who could do amazing things like seeing into the future.

There’s court trials for the murder and the politics is mixed in, as the traitor may lie somewhere in the court . But as you can tell, the book has been through the wringer, and as irrational as it is, it's been very hard for me to separate the story from the pub issues it went through. I don’t know how much this review will be helpful in the first place because I remember only bits of it!There were times when she wavered but when she made up her mind to do something, she did it formidably. I’m absolutely breath-taken by the multi-faceted story that Joan He managed to fit in a book that took me only 3 evenings to read. SYNOPSIS: Descendant of the Crane tells the story of Princess Hestina of Yan who's rushed into the role of Queen after her father's sudden demise. this book now has a place in my heart, it's been a while since I've read a book I've loved unconditionally.

Hesina was the protagonist, a young woman convinced that her father, the king, was murdered despite the fact that everyone else believed it to be a natural death. Zwykle nie gwiazdkuję książek, których nie skończyłam, ale ta była tak nudna i przewidywalna, że po prostu DRAMAT. Her internal thoughts are rational; when she was more impulsive or emotional, she knew that and she accepted that about her. I hate and love her simultaneously and the fact that I can’t decide which feeling to go with is POWERFUL.However, while book 1 did very respectably when it released in 2019, it did not quite explode by publishing industry standards. Como lectora, sólo aprendí que la sangre de quienes blandían magia prohibida se encendía en llamas cuando salía a la superficie.

Thank you to Albert Whitman Company and Joan He for providing me with an e-ARC via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review!this story is overwhelmingly heavy in court politics and war, so much so that my interest began to fade after a while. The Descendant of the Crane was an intricate Chinese inspired fantasy full of treachery and about a relentless hunt for the truth.
